Jie Chen is always available to help and support me in as faculty in the school of nursing. Her patience, advice and availability made my year a memorable one! Thank you, Jie, for your support this year!
I asked Sophia for advice on how to commemorate our annual awards ceremony in Mathematical Sciences, which is usually in person. Since the awards would be virtual this year, we could not capture the recipients receiving their awards with a professional photographer, but Sophia quickly found solutions to our dilemma. Sophia instructed me how to take screenshots on Zoom and fill out a request form with Creative Services, which resulted in a fabulous poster designed and printed by her. Sophia is so helpful and friendly, and I appreciate her service and dedication to celebrate the students’ awards. It gives me great joy to display this poster on our department’s bulletin board! Thank you, Sophia Varcados!
Andrea Allen taught UNIV for the first time in spring 2021. She did a great job adapting to the online environment and held synchronous classes bi-weekly for her students to connect with her and their classmates. We appreciate the extra efforts and outreach she did through navigate and email/Teams, checking in on each of her students to ensure they felt supported throughout the semester. Thank you so much, Andrea, for all that you did for our UNIV students!
Donna enabled me get a grant submitted at the deadline and was so patient and helpful. She took time to give me advice and guide me through the process. Thanks to Donna, our students may have extra support this fall!
Beth is a champion at putting together the programming for the Graduate School. She goes above and beyond to assist in career development and provide sessions that help with career and research development. She works incredibly hard and is an amazing collaborator.
On April 27th the Department of Biological Sciences hosted our first virtual Honors Convocation. This is always one of the most rewarding and special events as we celebrate the outstanding students and award scholarships. While many people help with this large endeavor, Paige Bothwell does a tremendous amount of work to ensure the ceremony goes smoothly. She prepared the presentation, worked to invite donors, photographed students and the list goes on. She always fills in and helps when needed and does so professionally and collegially.
Andy always goes above and beyond. Even with short notice, whatever needs to be done is no problem. You can rely on him, every time.
No matter the day or the time, Liz always responds by email so quickly. She has helped the CDFC so much by her quick response to emails and sharing information to get our students returned as soon as possible. I can always count on her and she is such a vital part of our team this year as we continue to learn to work in a pandemic. Many thanks to you, Liz!
The ADEI Team works tirelessly to bring awareness of the issues surrounding equity and inclusion to the campus and DeKalb County communities. The Team, under the leadership of Vernese Edghill-Walden, continuously engages these communities on what it means to be anti-racist and how to be inclusive and welcoming to all.
ADEI represents many identities and cultures but intersects into one caring and supportive Division for all.
Cathy has been a great partner for the Child Development and Family Center this year as we are monitoring surveillance testing and health clearance. She has been a strong communicator and a great partner for helping us stay on top of student surveillance testing.
Angie has been a strong partner for the Child Development and Family Center in helping us connect Pell-eligible students to grant funding to help support their child care expenses! Thank you so much for processing applications quickly and working in partnership with us to keep students supported!
Nick Smith, Terry West and Stanley Turner continue to work tirelessly to get the Huskie Den Bowling Center back up and running after nearly three years of non-use due to the HSC Renovation. The sound of falling pins is a welcome one for the NIU Community!
