Kevin Shryock – Mathematical Sciences

Kevin Shryock is a fantastic, fresh addition to our instructors in the mathematics department. As a former masters student in math education, he studied the effects of, rubric guided, student self assessment on exam outcomes for his Calculus I course. He is full of interesting, pedagogically focused ideas for helping students understand mathematics at a deeper level. But not only does he have ideas, as a GA with full responsibility I have many of those myself, he has the energy and dedication to make those ideas tangible for his own classes. If it were up to me, I’d give Kevin a lot more responsibility. Kevin is just a shining star that I am happy to see shine his light here at NIU!
