Pay parking tickets with food donation

August 26, 2019

Parking Ticket? No problem!

Individuals who are issued a parking ticket on campus between Aug. 26 and Sept. 6 can have the fee waived by taking five or more non-perishable food items to the Campus Parking Services office. All food items will benefit the Huskie Food Pantry.

“We are excited about this opportunity to give back to those who are getting adjusted to new parking schedules as the school year gets underway and to members of the Huskie community who may need a helping hand,” said Laura Lundelius, Director of Campus Services. “It’s a win, win for all of us.”

Lundelius says they’ll accept food from anyone who wants to participate in the drive, even if they didn’t receive a parking citation.

Food items will be accepted Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., until Sept. 13, at Campus Parking Services, located at 121 Normal Road in DeKalb.

One ticket per person will be waived during the food drive.

Tickets written for the following violations will be considered: No NIU Registration, Permit Not Valid for Lot, Improper Display of Permit, Improper Parking, Overtime Meter, Failure to Remove Old Permit, Transferable Permit Not Displayed, Visitor Fee, Flashers Required.
