We had an urgent financial issue that arose because students being paid stipends off of an external grant worked across the boundary between fiscal years. Some minor miscommunication and policy blips put the students’ stipends at risk and threatened the success of the research, which is aimed at involving Latinx students in geoscience research. Cindy’s rapid and thoughtful assistance kept this from happening. It also kept us from having to do a lot more paperwork and ensured the students would be paid on time. I am extremely grateful to have a colleague like Cindy, who knows how to get things done and knows that care and consideration for our students should always be foremost in our minds and actions.
