DeKalb city officials have added their congratulations to the stream of kudos coming in for NIU’s MAC Champion football team. President Lisa Freeman, Athletic Director Sean Frazier and Coach Rod Carey joined senior offensive tackle Max Scharping and junior defensive end Sutton Smith for a presentation during a City Council meeting on Monday, Dec. 10.
“We’re proud to share this honor with the City because of the tremendous support we receive from DeKalb,” said NIU President Lisa Freeman. “The making of a great team has a lot to do with how individual members feel about the school and the town they represent, and I can tell you that these young men and their coaches are very much ‘Proudly DeKalb.’
