NIU Senior Associate Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer Vernese Edghill-Walden will facilitate a Jobs PLUS event on Friday, March 9, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. in Campus Life 100 using the Blind Spots educational resources from PwC offered through CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion.
CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion is described as “the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. This commitment is driven by a realization that addressing diversity and inclusion is not a competitive issue, but a societal issue. CEOs recognize that change starts with them. With more than 350 CEOs of the world’s leading companies and business organizations, their goal is to leverage their individual and collective voices to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
NIU partners with companies committed to diversifying the workplace and creating an inclusive environment that is aligned with the university’s commitment to preparing students to live and work in a diverse society that will enrich their life experiences.
The Blind Spots educational resources from PwC features a series of videos as well a guide for self-reflection and group discussion on the videos.
“We are excited about the partnership NIU has with PwC,” said Edghill-Walden. “The Blind Spots resources are a great way to begin a conversation about implicit bias and I look forward to working with our students.”
