Family Weekend at NIU promises to give Huskies plenty of opportunities to show their loved ones what life on campus is all about, and organizers said they’re prepared to break records as generations of Huskies come together.
More than 25 events are slated for the weekend of Sept. 8 – 10.
“Family weekend is an opportunity for parents and family members to see the university and community in their students’ eyes and experience what it’s like to be a student here physically and socially,” said Kesha Williams, Associate Director of Orientation and Family Connections.
Williams said the weekend helps students feel more excited about their new NIU home, and familiarizes family members with their students’ university community.
“Most importantly, we want to strengthen and build on that relationship,” she said.
The events on campus include athletic games, outdoor activities, star gazing, garden tours, family breakfast and free family portraits. Community events are also highlighted.
Most events are free, and some require registration. To request disability related accommodations please contact kwilliams27@niu.edu. For more information, follow Huskie Family Connections on Facebook or check out the entire schedule at go.niu.edu/familywknd.
