The Faculty Development and Instruction Design Center is hosting a Designing a Writing-Infused Course in the Major or General Education workshop for faculty and staff on Thursday, May 23, 2017.
During this day-long, interactive workshop, participants will focus on a course that they currently teach. Participants will engage in activities that help them decide what kinds of writing activities might best enhance the critical thinking they want their students to do.
Dr. Brad Peters, a professor of English, will lead the workshop. Dr. Peters, who designed and has directed the NIU Writing Center, is the coordinator of the Writing Across the Curriculum program at NIU. He also presents yearly workshops on using writing to think critically and has trained faculty in universities across the country. He teaches advanced writing courses where students prepare their work for conferences and publication. Dr. Peters’ research focuses on effective writing strategies and pedagogies.
Workshop check-in will start at 8:30 am with refreshments and the program will begin at 9:00 am. Register at http://www.niu.edu/facdev/programs/20170523.shtml.
