February 28, 2017

The Human Resource Services (HRS) Employee Assistance Program and Center for Training and Professional Development continues their skills’ training series during March with workshop opportunities for university employees.

Identifying some of the emotional factors which employees experience when facing change and ways to process and handle change will be discussed by HRS Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Training Programs Director Brian Smith in “Coping with Change in the Workplace” at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2.

Molly Holmes, director of the NIU Gender & Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC), will lead an informational session on transgender identities and share strategies for a respectful and positive work environment, inclusive language and mistake recovery in “Transgender Inclusion in the Workplace: What to Know” at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10.

If you need to prepare or brush up your current résumé, during “Résumé Writing” at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, Gail Jacky, director of the NIU University Writing Center, will review résumé writing tips to help you prepare a grammatically correct document.

At 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, Brian Smith will be back to present “How to Say It:  Communicating Without the Conflict,” which will offer tips and tricks to communicate with colleagues. The session will review basics of communication, how messages can become distorted and how we can have more effective interpersonal communication.
