The NIU Student Association Senate will hold a budget and Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grant rally in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commons at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, to express their discontent with the situation in Springfield.
The rally will feature a number of speakers who have been affected by the budget crisis, including MAP Grant recipients, NIU student leaders, student government leaders from various Illinois universities and colleges, local community leaders and NIU administration.
Over 5,000 undergraduate students at NIU receive MAP Grants. For many of these students, the MAP Grant is the only way that students are able to fund their higher education.
