Volunteers needed for 2017 NCAA Golf Championships

October 25, 2016

Next May, NIU faculty, staff, students and alumni — along with fans and visitors from across the country — will experience the excitement and pageantry of a national championship tournament up close and in person when NIU and Rich Harvest Farms host the 2017 NCAA Golf Championships.

For two weeks – May 19-24 for the women’s championships and May 26-31 for the men’s – the best NCAA Division I collegiate golfers in the country will convene at the home of NIU’s men’s and women’s golf programs in Sugar Grove for one of the most prestigious and important collegiate athletic events ever held in the state of Illinois.

Volunteers will play a big role in the success of the tournaments, as they have done locally with the IHSA Football State Championships held at Huskie Stadium. Volunteer positions for the NCAA Golf Championships at Rich Harvest Farms include walking scoring, standard bearers, spotters, shuttle drivers, hospitality and media/scoring among other roles. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and cannot be a student currently enrolled in high school.

All NCAA Golf Championships volunteers will receive a volunteer uniform and grounds tickets to the tournament as part of their service.

Individuals who are interested in helping NIU host its first-ever national championship event in any sport can register to volunteer at go.niu.edu/ncaavolunteer.

Additional information on tickets for 2017 NCAA Golf Championships will soon be available at niuhuskies.com.
