If Nov. 8, 2016, is your first national election while living on campus – or the first election ever for you – you should know you can vote here at NIU. Voter registration is taking place all over campus and DeKalb.
Voter registration tables will be set up in residence halls, outside dining rooms at the following places, days and times:
- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Sept. 12-14, Gilbert Hall
- 4:30-7 p.m., Sept. 19-21, New Hall
- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Sept. 26-28, Neptune Hall
- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 3-5, Stevenson Hall
- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 10-11, New Hall
All you’ll need to register is two forms of identification. If you plan to vote here in DeKalb, then you’ll need to prove your address. If you live in a residence hall, you can get this through your MyNIU account and print it out. The other form of ID can be your driver’s license, state of Illinois ID, a military ID, or a passport.
You may also register online at ova.elections.il.gov. To do this, you need an Illinois driver’s license or state ID, and the last four digits of your Social Security number, as well as proof of address.
Registration continues through Nov. 8, in some circumstances. Visit the DeKalb County Elections Division website for details.
Early voting begins Thursday, Sept. 29, at the DeKalb County Government Campus in Sycamore and Monday, Oct. 24, in the Blackhawk Annex of the Holmes Student Center, continuing through to Nov. 7.
