On Tuesday, Sept. 13, a panel discussion on “Food Pantries and the Food Insecurity Puzzle,” will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Cole Hall 100.
Hunger and Food Insecurity are multilayered issues with no quick answers. Join us as we discuss the impact of local food pantries on food insecurity, and investigate how transportation, education and policy play roles in alleviating local hunger.
Dr. Courtney Gallaher (Geography) will moderate a panel discussion that will include Dr. Kristen Borre (Anthropology) as well as representatives from the Huskie Food Pantry, Barb Food Mart and Salem Lutheran food pantry.
On Sunday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m., bring a non-perishable item for the Huskie Food Pantry to the NIU Women’s Soccer game vs. Illinois State at the NIU Track and Field & Soccer Complex.
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, join in a conversation following the viewing of “A Place At The Table,” a documentary about the lived experiences of those who battle food insecurity. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 135 N. 2nd Street in DeKalb.
