Empty Bowls to help Hope Haven, food pantry

Photo of a bowl of chicken noodle soupInterested in giving back to the NIU and DeKalb community by fighting hunger while enjoying delicious soup?

Attend the 18th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser Wednesday, April 13.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.

Come enjoy delicious, homemade soups prepared by NIU students and staff while supporting a great cause. The NIU Student Dietetic Association will  donate all proceeds to the Huskies Student Food Pantry and Hope Haven.

Each meal comes with a ceramic bowl made by the students of the Ceramics Club, and additional bowls will be available to purchase. A raffle with prizes also is planned.

The event will takes place in the Chandelier Room of Adams Hall; seating times are 4:30 and 6 p.m. The cost if $10 for homemade soup, bread, bowl and beverage and $5 for a handmade ceramic bowl.

Reservations are taken at niuemptybowls@gmail.com; include name, number of guests and preferred seating time. Walk-ins also are welcome.
