Students: immunization record submission deadline changes

March 22, 2016

Photo of a vaccinationEffective immediately, the deadline for students to submit documentation of immunity to NIU Health Services has changed from the 10th day of the semester to the following dates, which will be standard every year from this point forward:

  • Fall term enrollment: Aug. 1
  • Spring term enrollment: Jan. 1
  • Summer term enrollment: June 1

“NIU Health Services has moved up the immunization deadline in order to increase compliance with the Illinois College Student Immunization Act, and to help promote wellness among the NIU student body. Early compliance with this deadline will also decrease the overall number of academic or financial holds which are placed on students accounts,” says Linda Styrna-Bostedt, acting director of Health Services.

Departments that need additional support in communicating this information to students should contact Marketing Coordinator Natasha McPartlin at (815) 753-9742 or nmcpartlin1@niu.edu.

All students enrolled in an on-campus course are required by the Illinois College Student Immunization Act (110-ILCS 20) and university policy, to provide proof of immunity for tetanus, diphtheria, measles, mumps and rubella.

New students are notified via their NIU ZID email account if any documentation information is incomplete.
