NIU to conduct review of classroom response systems

March 16, 2016

Photo of students holding clickersA recent survey of faculty who use classroom response systems, also known as clickers, showed a strong desire for a new review of clicker systems.

Based on this feedback, and at the recommendation of the Faculty Development Advisory Committee, the Faculty Development and Instructional Design Center will facilitate a review of systems so that faculty can select an officially supported clicker system. The last review was conducted in 2011, and many changes have occurred in the technology available.

The review is intended to ensure that NIU is using the system that best suits faculty and student needs. The demonstrations and discussions are open to all NIU faculty, instructors, teaching assistants and staff members at NIU.

Those who are interested can attend any of the following demonstrations, which are all held from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 305 of the Holmes Student Center. Registration is available online, and walk-ins are welcome.

  • Tuesday, March 22: Poll Everywhere
  • Wednesday, March 30: NIUResponse.com by Charles Downing
  • Thursday, March 31: Turning Technologies
  • Tuesday, April 5: TopHat
  • Thursday, April 7: i>clicker
