Peer mentor application deadline extended until March 11

February 17, 2016

studyingAre you a rising sophomore, junior, or senior looking for ways to mentor other students? Consider applying to be a peer mentor through the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning (OSEEL).

As a peer mentor, you will connect with students in your program, facilitate small- and large-group discussions, provide resources for students in your program and receive a stipend or hourly pay.

Peer mentors must be sophomores, juniors or seniors, enrolled full-time at NIU, committed to the program they mentor and dedicated to helping other NIU students succeed both in, and out, of the classroom.

OSEEL is looking for peer mentors for a variety of programs: Research Rookies, Huskie Service Scholars, NIU Service Leaders and Themed Learning Communities. Research Rookies peer mentors must have previously participated in the program for one year. Themed Learning Community peer mentors must apply per semester. The other programs continue from August to May.

Interested students can apply online – the deadline has been extended until Friday, March 11 – or contact OSEEL for more information at (815) 753-8154 or engage@niu.edu.
