Faculty, staff invited to ‘Step Your Way to 10k’

Campus Recreation, dedicated to encouraging healthy, active lifestyles, challenges faculty and staff this year to take 30 minutes out of their day to add steps to their pedometer.

Why walk?

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends healthy adults fit in about 10,000 steps per day. Mayo Clinic states that walking can help reduce risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. It also aids in weight management, bone strengthening, improved balance and coordination and have an overall positive attitude.

Join the program

Earn steps by shooting hoops, playing racquetball, attending a group fitness class or any of the other activities Campus Recreation has to offer; simply purchase a Campus Recreation membership. Membership includes use of all facilities and unlimited Group Fitness classes. Want to try out Campus Recreation before purchasing a membership? Join a CR staff member in the SRC lobby every Wednesday at noon for a new Workout Wednesday.

How it works

Each participants receives a free pedometer, available at the SRC front desk. Already have a FitBit, Garmin or another tracking device? No problem; participants can use their own equipment. Register online and record your steps.
