DeKalb County Community Foundation logoThe NIU Community School of the Arts has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund, administered by the DeKalb County Community Foundation.

Wurlitzer Foundation grants provide financial assistance to further music education, music appreciation and performance to organizations and schools serving DeKalb County and the Chicago metropolitan area.

“It is through this type of collaboration with our partners that the Community School is able to continue to make a difference in our community,” CSA Director Joshua Anderson says. “We cannot thank them enough.”

The grant will assist with the funding of need-based scholarships for students enrolling in CSA music programs; awarded each fall and spring, the scholarships enable more community members to participate in music lessons, classes and ensembles.

Spring 2016 scholarship applications are due Saturday, Jan. 9.
