89.5 WNIJ to host public forum on medical marijuana

Photo illustration of medical marijuanaThe public is invited to attend WNIJ’s “Context: Medical Marijuana and Illinois” to join the discussion about Illinois’ medical cannabis pilot program approved by state lawmakers.

Learn about the “debilitating” diseases that qualify for marijuana treatment, grow centers, dispensaries and the legal rights protecting patients.

This free event takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, in Studio A at the NIU Broadcast Center, home to Northern Public Radio, at 801 North First St. in DeKalb.

There have been delays getting this project started and tens of thousands of patients who have qualified for medical marijuana cards are waiting to get their prescriptions filled.

“Context: Medical Marijuana and Illinois” is a free event and open to the public. Although reservations are not required, they are encouraged due to the limited space available.
