Music education and percussion performance major Alexis Lamb will present “MeiaMeia,” an NIU Honors capstone recital, with Projecto Arcomusical at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 24.

Friday’s performance takes place in the Recital Hall of the NIU Music Building, which is accessible to all.

The music is a cycle of 12 berimbau chamber works, six composed by Lamb and six by NIU School of Music professor Greg Beyer.

Lamb and Beyer began collaborating in the spring of 2013 under the auspices of the Undergraduate Artistry and Research Apprenticeship Program. The UARAP allows faculty “to engage undergraduates in their artistic and other scholarly activities in one-to-one mentorships.”

Projeto Arcomusical also includes Christopher Mrofcza, Abby Rehard, Kyle Feins, Daniel Eastwood and Alexv Rolfe. The group will perform a “MeiaMeia” encore at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Quilombo Cultural Center, 1757 N. Kimball Ave. in Chicago.
