Marc Falkoff, associate professor and director of faculty development in the NIU College of Law, has been named a finalist by the Chicago Headline Club for its coveted 2015 Lisagor Award, recognizing the best in Chicago journalism.

Winners will be announced Friday, May 8, at the organization’s annual awards dinner and reception at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Falkoff has been recognized for his legal opinion columns on current criminal law cases and issues under the title “Criminal Convictions,” which were published by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin throughout 2014.

NIU Law Dean Jennifer Rosato Perea shared her appreciation for Falkoff’s efforts.

“Writing for such venerable publications as the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin provides a multitude of benefits – for the readers and for the publication, but also for the law school, by recognizing that our professors have knowledge and perspectives that educate the legal community in a variety of ways,” Rosato Perea said.

“Marc’s insightful perspective on criminal law and procedure is incredibly worthy of this broader audience,” she added. “We are very proud of him receiving this recognition.”

The Chicago Headline Club’s annual Lisagor Awards recognize the best of Chicago journalism and are named for Peter Lisagor, the Chicago Daily News Washington bureau chief from 1959 to 1976.
