Faculty members from diverse disciplines and programs are invited to come together and participate in the development of pathways for the new PLUS general education program.
In order to facilitate collaboration, Pathway Development Grants have been made available through the Office of the Vice Provost in collaboration with the General Education Committee and the Office of Student Engagement and Experiential Learning.
A key element of the new PLUS general education program is the pathway.
Students will have the option of fulfilling their knowledge domain requirements through an integrated course bundle or pathway. Courses in a pathway will coalesce around a set of large questions reflective of timely intellectual issues and central to the pathway theme. Each course in a pathway will address one or more of these questions from a different disciplinary perspective.
While faculty may select one of the sample pathway themes and continue its development, they are encouraged to propose new pathway themes. A Blackboard site has been established where faculty can exchange information and ideas about pathways as well as connect with colleagues across campus. All tenure and tenure-track faculty are already members of this site. Go to the Blackboard home page → General Education Pathways (right menu) → Discussions (left menu).
All faculty and students are invited to participate in the PLUS general education program.
