Martin Luther King Jr. Service Week proves successful

January 27, 2015

MLK Day of ServiceStudents, faculty, administrative staff and community members joined in the celebration of NIU’s third annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Service Week, held the week of Jan. 19.

The week built upon existing initiatives to bring about change to the NIU campus and the community.

Events, which included a memorial march, a think tank, two dinners at Feed’em Soup, speech performances and a presidential breakfast, were well-attended and received positive feedback.

The think tank provided a space where students could voice their opinions and ideas for a more diverse and inclusive college experience. The dinners at Feed’Em Soup served a great number of community members, and the speech performances moved the audience to tears and lively applause.
