Calling all highly motivated sophomores, juniors and seniors who are not graduating this spring or summer: Applications for Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) are now open.

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 27. Applications are available online near the top right of the screen (under “Program Info”).

SROP gives NIU students the chance to conduct paid, faculty mentored research during the summer. Students of diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented minority students, students from economically disadvantaged and underserved backgrounds and students with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.

The research projects require a full-time commitment from the student (40 hours per week). Students cannot hold another job or be taking summer classes while working on an SROP. Each student will be awarded a $3,500 stipend for his or her work.

All program participants will be required to live in on campus housing. Room and board expenses (double occupancy) are fully covered.
