Forum to outline changes to freshmen orientation program

January 15, 2015

Summer orientation tourOrientation & Family Connections, part of the Division of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, will share changes with the campus community regarding its Summer 2015 Freshmen Orientation program.

All traditionally admitted freshmen will now attend a two-day orientation program with an overnight component, which will include the option for family members to stay overnight.

The overall goal is to provide new students ample time to learn how to navigate key academic and support services that will be crucial to their success at NIU. The extended stay also allows time to meet and make connections with other new and current students, as well as faculty and staff.

Ultimately, an enhanced orientation experience will better prepare students to begin and persist through graduation at NIU.

All campus partners are invited to attend an overview of the summer 2015 program by Orientation & Family Connections at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Room 100 of the Campus Life Building. During this forum, there will be a discussion about student and family member schedules and dates, with an opportunity to share feedback and ask questions.
