Mobile devices, digital content to take center stage at events

November 7, 2014

qualtrics mobileNIU’s Division of Information Technology will host two events in coming weeks centered around mobile devices and digital content.

Join Jason Beckham from Apple Education in the Boardroom from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, for a presentation about how faculty and students are using mobile devices and digital content to create, collaborate, innovate and communicate across all disciplines.

Beckham also will offer strategies for using iPad apps and iTunes for improving student engagement and helping students communicate in compelling new ways using mobile technology.

The event takes place in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center. A light lunch will be provided. Registration is available online.

In December, a Bring Your Own Device Fair will assist students in getting the most out of their mobile devices. It is organized around a series of tables each one manned by DoIT experts in the use of a subset of mobile devices: smartphones or tablets, Android, Apple or other.

An additional set of tables will feature apps that extend the functionality of the devices (such as improving battery life or enhancing photos or videos). The first 100 students to attend will be given special BYOD T-shirts.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the Regency Room of the Holmes Student Center.
