The Huskie Basketball Tip-Off, featuring NIU men’s basketball coach Mark Montgomery and NIU women’s basketball coach Kathi Bennett, will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Eduardo’s Mexican Restaurant, 214 E. Lincoln Hwy. in downtown DeKalb.
Join Coach Montgomery and Coach Bennett, along with the Huskie men’s and women’s basketball staffs, for this exclusive meet-and-greet and get an inside look at the upcoming basketball season. Complimentary light appetizers will be provided and a cash bar will be available.
Last season, the NIU men’s basketball team recorded one of the 10 best win improvements in the nation as it won 15 games. Its 10-win improvement was also the largest single-season improvement in NIU history. The Huskies open the 2014-15 season with an exhibition contest against Roosevelt University Saturday, Nov. 8, before opening the regular season with a home game Saturday, Nov. 15, against Aurora.
The Huskie women’s basketball team returns four of five starters from last season and has advanced to Cleveland in the Mid-American Conference Tournament in two of the last three seasons. The women will host Lewis University in an exhibition Saturday, Nov. 8, prior to the men’s game that day and will take on Illinois State in their regular season opener Friday, Nov. 14.
Season tickets for NIU basketball are available now, including the combined men’s and women’s season ticket for just $135. Faculty and staff can purchase season tickets for just $95 for Huskie men’s basketball or $40 for Huskie women’s basketball. Premium seating in the Nelson Club is also still available.
