Sophomores invited Oct. 4 to welcome football team to field

September 29, 2014

NIU Huskie cheerleaderHey, sophomores: It’s your turn!

Throughout this football season, NIU is launching a new initiative in the hopes of creating a tradition at Huskie Stadium. At each home game, a class of students will walk across the turf to the roar of the crowd as they welcome members of the NIU football team on to the field.

During the first home game in late August, a few hundred first-year students enjoyed this opportunity.

Sophomores are invited Saturday, Oct. 4, to cheer the team’s long-awaited return to Brigham Field.

Gather at 3:30 pm. at the Northeast Gate to Huskie Stadium. Intercollegiate Athletics staff members will then provide students with wrist band to join the 3:45 p.m. procession at 3:45 pm. NIU OneCards are required to stay and watch the Mid-American Conference opener versus Kent State for free.

  • Juniors and seniors: Your turns are coming. Keep your eyes open for your invitations to upcoming games.
