Input requested on upgrading NIU’s voice system

Photo of a telephoneTelecommunications have changed dramatically since NIU first began operating its own Nortel SL100 telephone switch in 1989.

The Division of Information Technology is in the information gathering phase of upgrading NIU’s voice system.

Feedback is needed.

IT Communication Services and Client First, a telecommunications consulting firm, will host meetings Wednesday, Sept. 10, and Thursday, Sept. 11, to get input from customers as to what features and functionality are desired in a new voice solution.

The meetings will be in the Holmes Student Center’s Illinois Room. No reservation is required.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 10, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for administrative professionals
  • Thursday, Sept. 11, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for interested faculty and staff

With the planned adoption of the Lync component of Office 365 for faculty and staff in 2015, leveraging the benefits of unified communications is closer to becoming a reality. Ideas are welcome.
