Get a job: Fall career fairs begin Sept. 30

September 3, 2014

NIU Career FairsNIU’s fall career fairs begin Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The annual “NIU Helps Huskies Get Hired” events offer students and job-seekers the chance to network and to impress potential employers.

New this year is a Junior Practice Interview Week., exclusively for junior-level students to improve their interviewing skills.

Fall 2014 also features NIU’s annual Graduate & Professional School Fair, Internship Fair and Full-time Job Fair.

Several workshops also are planned to help job candidates get ready: “Internship Search & Career Success Prep Workshops,” “ABCs of Getting an Internship and the Internship Fair” and “Career Fair Preparation Workshop.”

Attendees are encouraged to come prepared to the fairs by researching the companies, rehearsing elevator speeches, dressing professionally and bringing plenty of résumés. Current students also will need to submit copies of their résumés as admission into the events.

Students also can use the NIU’s “Huskies Get Hired!” job search system. Students can create and upload their résumés, publish their résumés to résumé books; employes use the site to find new talent for jobs and internships.
