Mandatory ‘Junior Practice Interview Week’ begins Sept. 22

NIU Job Fair 2014To assist students on the path to career success, Career Services has instituted a mandatory Junior Practice Interview Week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, to Thursday, Sept. 25.

All juniors are expected to participate in a 30-minute practice interview.

The interviews will be conducted by professional corporate recruiters and Career Services staff in Room 260 of the Campus Life Building. Each student will receive feedback on strengths and areas for improvement at the end of the interview.

Regardless of whether students are going on to graduate school or to professional employment, they will benefit greatly from a practice interview and will gain skills to prepare for future interviews. Students who do not participate in mock interviews are typically not as competitive or as well-prepared as other candidates.

Students must have created their account in Huskies Get Hired and uploaded their resumes to sign up for interviews.

Students can get help with their resumes, Huskies Get Hired accounts and interview sign-up by visiting the Career Resource Center (CRC) in Room 235 of the Campus Life Building. They also can use the “Resume Builder” tool in Huskies Get Hired and visit the CRC to have their resumes reviewed.

Seniors are welcome to participate if they feel they need more practice or if they have not participated in a mock interview prior to their senior year.

Freshmen and sophomores are invited to participate in a workshop series that prepares students for internships. The fall 2014 workshop schedule and registration are available at Prepare for Your Career Success series.
