Northern Illinois University alumni and friends have the opportunity to meet Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti, a 1976 NIU graduate.

Colletti will talk on the art of negotiation at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, before the Chicago Cubs take on the Dodgers at Wrigley Field. He will speak at the Brixen Ivy Rooftop, 1044 Waveland Ave. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Colletti is known for his success at obtaining top talent, particularly at the trade deadline. He joined the Dodgers in 2005 as the 10th general manager. He also worked as assistant general manager for the San Francisco Giants and began his Major League Baseball career in 1982 with the Chicago Cubs, where he worked in media relations and baseball operations.

The event costs $90 for dues-paying NIU Alumni Association members and NIU Executive Leadership Forum members and $120 for nonmembers. The cost covers the reception with Colletti, the game and a dinner buffet with unlimited drinks.

Registration is available online.

The NIU Alumni Association, which is sponsoring the event, provides monthly programs to build lifelong relationships with alumni, prospective students, corporate partners and friends.
