The third annual edition of “NIU Social Summer” has begun.
NIU Athletics has brought back the popular feature designed to keep fans up-to-date and involved with Huskie sports on its social media platforms, as well as on NIUHuskies.com, throughout the summer months.
Using the hashtag #NIUSocialSummer, the Huskies will bring interactive components to fans Monday through Friday though Aug. 1:

In the past, #NIUSocialSummer has gone by a strict schedule, publishing certain features on certain days. This year’s version is going to be shaped by the daily events that fuel social media.
Visitors will learn about NIU athletics events and deadlines – such as the Huskie Summer Circuit, the Brigham-Novak Golf Tournament, new student orientation, the Football 101 Women’s Clinic and more – and provide features and an insider’s look on student-athletes and coaches through features such as “A Summer’s Day with … .”
Athletics also will put a Huskie spin on national sporting events (the World Cup, NBA Finals, MLB All-Star Game), holidays and pop culture (music, movies) in fun and share-able ways.

One of the ongoing features of this year’s NIU Social Summer will actually carry all the way through to the Aug. 28 Huskie Football 2014 season opener versus Presbyterian.
Every Tuesday and Thursday between now and Aug. 28, take a look back at each game that has made up the Huskies’ nation-leading 26-game home winning streak. Through the bi-weekly countdown, titled “26 to the 28th,” fans will relive many of the games, players and moments that have made up the greatest era in NIU Football history.
NIU Social Summer is for Huskie fans. Social media gives you a voice and a way to interact with Huskie sports on a daily basis. Athletics will put out calls for selfies, tailgating recipes, your favorite game during the win streak and more. There also could very well be prizes!
