Faculty, staff volunteers needed to welcome students back to campus

June 2, 2014

Photo of a compassStudent Involvement & Leadership Development is currently looking for staff volunteers to assist with Huskies Helping Huskies (HHH) stations Monday, Aug. 25, and Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Volunteer time slots are for one hour, every half hour (9 to 10 a.m., 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., etc.), beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to sign up for two-hour shifts if their schedules allow, but one-hour commitments also are welcome.

HHH faculty and staff volunteers assist students with questions such as where their classes are located, where to go for advisement, or where the nearest computer lab is located. Each station will have campus maps, a phone book, bus schedules and the undergraduate catalog.

HHH stations will be set up outside – under tents at the MLK Commons, Wirtz Hall, Graham Hall and just north of Chick Evans Field House – and inside DuSable Hall on the main level.

Huskies Helping Huskies provides an excellent avenue for interacting with new students in a unique way, getting to know the campus differently and networking with others from across the university – not to mention soaking up the excitement that comes along with the first week of a new academic year.

To volunteer for Huskies Helping Huskies, visit http://www.mysignup.com/HHH2014 and select desired date, time slot and location. For more information, call (815) 753-1421 or communityservice@niu.edu.

Welcome Back Huskies!
