St. Louis gallery to feature works of NIU photography students

May 22, 2014

The Desire For ...An upcoming exhibition at Mad Art Gallery in St. Louis will feature the work of photography students from the NIU School of Art.

This exhibition – “The Desire For… ” – will run from Tuesday, June 3, through Saturday, June 21. A public reception will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 13.

As a part of the NIU Art Museum’s programming series, Mad Art Gallery Director Carrie M Becker came to NIU in March to deliver a lecture about her background as a visual artist and artistic practice.

While at NIU, Becker also met with advanced photography students to evaluate their artwork and offer suggestions for how they might develop and improve as they move forward. She was so impressed with the students’ work that she invited four of them to mount a group exhibition in her gallery. The NIU School of Art and the Art Museum applaud these outstanding young artists on their success.

“It is a great opportunity because I am an upcoming senior,” Knobloch said, “so this is great experience and I still have another year ahead of me to continue advancing my work before I graduate in May 2015.”
