Students, faculty and staff are invited Monday, May 5, to meet the candidate for associate vice provost for Educator Licensure and Preparation.

Jenny Parker, who is acting in that position while also serving an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, will talk and take questions from 11 to 11:50 a.m. in Room 506 of the Holmes Student Center.

Parker joined NIU in 1995 and was the program director for physical education-teacher education from 2009 to 2013. Her current position in the Office of the Vice Provost began last August.

With administrative responsibility for coordination of activities pertaining to licensure, the AVP’s primary responsibilities include:

  • representing NIU to external constituents such as the Illinois Board of Higher Education;
  • working with teacher preparation discipline coordinators and directors on standardizing the implementation of policies, procedures and programs; and
  • coordinating accreditation and facilitating the function of university level committees.

The associate vice provost works very closely with the Center for P-20 Engagement.
