It was absolutely fantastic to see the turn out at the Huskie Bowl last Saturday! Thank you for your tremendous support of all of our teams. I enjoyed getting the chance to meet and talk with many of you in person. Know that I appreciate your feedback as we work to make improvements to our program and to take the Huskies FORWARD!
Our staff is working hard on new programs and initiatives that will make this athletics program better. I am excited about our progress but there is A LOT more work to be done. Last Saturday we got a chance to take a look at our concept for The Yard, the official pre-game tailgate of NIU. I saw a lot of potential to turn that into a great pregame gathering area for our fans. We only showcased a scaled down version for the Huskie Bowl, but I can see it taking shape, and I hope those of you who were there saw it too.
We will have multiple food vendors, you’ll see upgrades to the beer garden and Kids’ Zone, and we’ll be bringing in our university partners, a super-size television screen and a stage for the live bands. The Yard is going to be the place to be before kickoff, no doubt about it!
I’m also getting a lot of questions about our new Premium Experience options both at Huskie Stadium and at the Convocation Center, and about the changes with the Huskie Athletic Fund. It’s fantastic to see the interest! Our staff stands ready to answer all of your questions. Please contact them at 815-753-PACK (7225) or via e-mail at email@example.com. And check out our fun new “How To” video for a few simple tips on how to fill out your renewal form!
I got word this week that following a great day at the Huskie Bowl, our season ticket renewals for 2014 have hit the 25 percent mark. That puts us on a good pace, and ahead of where we were a year ago at this time, but we need to continue the momentum. We have mapped out an aggressive plan and if you have purchased tickets of any kind from us recently, you WILL be hearing from us! Remember, the Early Signing Period deadline of April 30th is right around the corner.
In June, I will be hitting the road with our head coaches for the 2014 Huskie Summer Circuit! We will be in Chicago, Rockford and Aurora on June second, third and fourth. Click here for details and to RSVP.This is a great chance for us to tell our story to fans, friends and alums outside of our local community. I’m looking forward to seeing many of you, and rolling that Huskie Bus across northern Illinois. DeKalb and Sycamore, we haven’t forgotten you guys here at home. In August, we’re bringing back Movie Night at Huskie Stadium, and that will serve as the finale of our Summer Circuit series.
How about that Huskie Men’s Tennis Team!? Congratulations to Coach Patrick Fisher and his guys on winning the MAC regular season championship last Friday at the Huskie Tennis Courts! They clinched the title with a win over Buffalo and head to Muncie this weekend as the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Good luck to men’s tennis and to all of our spring teams competing in championships in the next few weeks. I’m looking for some more MAC hardware back here in DeKalb!
Thanks, as always, for your support and Go Huskies!
