Provost candidate to visit NIU April 28, 29

A photo of the NIU front gatesExecutive vice president and provost finalist Marek Dollár will visit campus on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, for interviews.

Dollár is currently dean of the College of Engineering and Computing at Miami University of Ohio. Prior to this, he was professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).

He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in engineering science from Agh University of Science and Technology, Krakow, Poland. His CV lists more than 50 archival publications, 40 refereed conference proceedings, and a book. He has received more than 20 grant awards. He was honored with the Doctor of Science Habilitate (D.Sc.) for outstanding teaching and research achievements in science and engineering in 1989 and with the President of the Republic of Poland Professor of Engineering Science Award in 2000.

All members of the NIU community are invited to meet with the candidate at one of the following three forums:

  • Faculty are invited to meet with Dollár in an open forum from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, in Altgeld Hall 315.
  • University staff and members of the community are invited to meet with Dollár in an open forum from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Monday, April 28, in Altgeld Hall 315.
  • Students are invited to meet with Dollár in an open forum from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in Altgeld Hall 315.

All individuals attending the forums will have an opportunity to provide written feedback to the president. Feedback forms will be distributed at the forum.
