Student Council for Exceptional Children to screen autism documentary

April 14, 2014

Autism AwarenessApril is National Autism Awareness Month.

NIU’s Student Council for Exceptional Children invites the campus community to a free movie night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, in the Cole Hall Auditorium.

“Best Kept Secret” is a documentary that features the journey of a special educator’s struggle to prepare her students with autism as they “age out” of the education system at age 21 in one of the poorest cities in America.

The evening will include free pizza and popcorn, gift card/prize giveaways, raffles, baked goods and unique, handmade autism awareness items for sale, including jewelry and wine glasses. All proceeds will go to autism organizations. Parking is available in the visitor’s lot east of Cole Hall.

To make a donation in the form of a gift card, cash, check or even a handmade craft item, contact Greg Conderman in Gabel 162D or gconderman@niu.edu.
