Approximately 1,200 participated in Saturday’s NIU Cares Day event, a campus-wide day of community service. Northern Illinois University students, faculty and staff volunteered to complete projects that benefit DeKalb County’s not-for-profit organizations and community agencies as a way of thanking the community for their support of the institution and its mission. The volunteers were transported to locations around the county to spend the day planting, painting, cleaning, sorting, assisting with events, and various other tasks.
