Provost candidate to visit NIU April 16, 17

Photo of the East Lagoon fountain with the Holmes Student Center in the backgroundNIU’s next candidate for the position of executive vice president and provost, Salma Ghanem, will be on campus for interviews Wednesday, April 16, and Thursday, April 17.

Ghanem is currently the dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts at Central Michigan University. She previously served in the press office of the Egyptian Mission to the United Nations.

Ghanem received her B.A from the University of Texas-Pan American in 1987 and her Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas-Austin in 1996. Her CV lists 35 publications, 57 presentations and numerous grants and honors.

All members of the NIU community are invited to meet with the candidate at one of the following three forums:

  • Faculty are invited to meet with Ghanem in an open forum from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in Altgeld Hall 315.
  • University staff and members of the community are invited to meet with Ghanem in an open forum from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, in Altgeld Hall 315.
  • Students are invited to meet with Ghanem in an open forum from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the Holmes Student Center Illinois Room.

All individuals attending the forums will have an opportunity to provide written feedback to the president. Feedback forms will be distributed at the forum.
