LGBT poster contest: Raise awareness, win money

WhenDidYouDecideToBeStraight_2011PosterNIU’s LGBT Studies Program has launched a campus-wide poster campaign to raise awareness of LGBT issues.

The contest is open to current NIU students. Prizes of $250 and $100 will be awarded to the first- and second-place winners respectively.

The winning posters will be unveiled Wednesday, April 23, at the LGBT & Women’s Studies Honors Reception.

It will be displayed across campus during the Fall 2014 semester and used in promotional materials for LGBT Studies, an interdisciplinary program which fosters research and teaching related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

Submissions may address any LGBT issues relevant to the NIU campus including, but not limited to, issues of discrimination, bullying, community building, the community experience, education on LGBT issues and more.

Submissions can take the form of any medium that can be translated to print. All entries must be submitted to the LGBT Studies Program via email at LGBTstudies@niu.edu or by visiting Room 103 of Reavis Hall by 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 16.
