NIU’s men’s tennis team has claimed another weekly award, the fifth time this season that members of the team will receive an award. Frederic Cadieux and Simon Formont were named MAC Men’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for their efforts over spring break in Florida.

The Huskie tandem played in two of the three matches NIU played over the week. In both affairs, the Huskies claimed the doubles points, thanks in part to the play of Cadieux and Formont in the No. 2 doubles matches.

On March 11 against Souther Mississippi, Cadieux and Formont met Brad Marriott and Alex Doleac and handed them an 8-6 loss to clinch the doubles point for the Huskies. On March 12, they faced Florida Atlantic’s Robert Dubuque and Richard Meade, eventually besting the opposing duo, 8-4.

Cadieux and Formont have been tough to beat in NIU’s last handful of matches. They’ve won five in a row now in doubles, and their record stands at 9-4 this spring.

NIU will return to action Saturday, March 22. The Huskies will host matches against Saint Louis and Cardinal Stritch, starting at 1 and 5 p.m. respectively. Both will be played at the Boylan Tennis Center in Rockford.
