Because of the extended winter in the Midwest, the Northern Illinois University softball team’s home opener versus Northwestern scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, has been moved to The Ballpark at Rosemont.

First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

Fans will be able to follow all the action live via Gametracker or watch the game on NIUTube at NIUHuskies.com. Subscriptions to NIUTube are $6.95 for a month and $49.95 for the year.

Home to the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch, The Ballpark at Rosemont is the only stadium in the country built for a women’s professional softball team and features an all-turf field.

Gates open at noon. Admission is $5 per adult, $3 per student/youth and students with a valid student ID will be free.

Concessions will not be open, but fans will be allowed carry-in items as long as no alcohol is brought in. No grilling will be allowed in the stadium.

NIU returns to the diamond Sunday, March 23, when the Huskies travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on Iowa State in a doubleheader. First pitch for Game One is set for noon with the second game to follow.
