NIU’s retail focus is on jobs that put your degree to use!
Come see what you can do at the Retail Leadership Expo, scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center.
Retail hires college graduates for high-level careers in merchandising; retail operations (stores, field); merchandise planning; finance; information technology; inventory management; loss prevention; human resources; marketing and advertising; logistics and transportation; and multi-channel e-commerce and catalog. These are not cashier, stockroom or sales personnel jobs.
Even with a starting salary range of $32,000 to $52,000 for college graduates in the retail sector, NIU graduates (2012 and 2013) in the retail sector had an average starting salary of $45,000 – slightly more than the overall, national starting salary average for the Class of 2012 graduates from all sectors.
The expo is a professional networking event which includes retail career overviews presented by top retail executives followed a networking “mocktail” reception with 15 to 20 retail companies. Professional dress is required.
