Get your gear! ‘Rec Rewards’ is here

March 4, 2014

Rec CenterNIU Campus Recreation’s Rec Rewards program has introduced two new features this semester.

Participants now are able to register online and can also now win prizes throughout the semester for their participation in the program, features that have not been a part of the rewards program since it began two years ago.

The Rec Rewards program is a free fitness program designed to encourage recreation members to get fit while earning prizes. After registration, program participants will accumulate points for each visit to a participating facility by signing in at the front desk upon arrival.

“As participants earn points, they work toward different prizes levels,” said Greer Blaustein, coordinator of marketing and public relations for Campus Recreation. Prizes include T-shirts, draw bags, water bottles and drawings for Nike Fuel Bands.

“Every month, participants receive an entry for the Nike Fuel Band for every 15 points they earn that month,” Blaustein added.

Participants can keep track of their points online. Cumulative point totals are reset at the beginning of each semester. Recreation members can register to participate at any point throughout the semester. This semester, Rec Rewards will end Wednesday, April 30.

Facilities included in this program are the Recreation Center, Field House, Outdoor Recreation Sports Complex, Gabel Pool, Anderson Pool and the Gilbert and New Hall exercise facilities. To register, recreation members can sign up online or in person at the front desks of any of those facilities.
