Online NIU Cares Day sign-up begins Saturday

February 24, 2014

NIU Cares DayTeam member registration for NIU Cares Day 2014 will be available from Saturday, March 1, through Friday, March 28, at niucaresday.niu.edu.

NIU Cares Day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12.

Students, faculty, and staff members will be stationed around DeKalb and Sycamore to complete service projects that will benefit not-for-profit community agencies as well as individual residents in need. Past partners have included the DeKalb Park District, the Salvation Army, T.A.I.L.S. Humane Society, District 428 schools and the DeKalb and Sycamore libraries.

Students are encouraged to sign up as a volunteer team or as individuals.

Team leaders have already registered themselves and their teams, so team members will register themselves using their team name. Registration and event information is available at niucaresday.niu.edu.

It is crucial that all volunteers register themselves by March 28 if they wish to participate; there will be no on-site registration April 12.

Faculty and staff members are also encouraged to get involved with this annual event through several means, including helping with the kickoff event. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside students while helping out the surrounding communities.

Staff members who are looking for a unique, student-oriented experience are encouraged to sign up online at as a “Project Site Leader” or “Kickoff Volunteer.” Training will be provided prior to NIU Cares Day.
