Advancing STEM education: Priming the Pump

Photo of beakers full of chemicalsThe PROMISE Scholars Program, funded by the National Science Foundation, will offer two opportunities to support students’ interests in NIU research and STEM professional development.

From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, the PROMISE Scholars will host a STEM conference titled, “Advancing STEM Education: Priming the Pump.” Invited companies include Fermi National Accelerator Lab, Lucent-Alcatel, IBM, Motorola Solutions and Boeing.

The conference will focus on STEM research, product and professional development.

Students interested in STEM education and research should register online. Registration deadline is Saturday, Feb. 15.

From Monday, March 10, through Thursday, March 20, PROMISE Scholars will participate in a STUDENTS@WORK Program. Local STEM companies will host PROMISE Scholars and expose them to the STEM profession.
