Conference to cover ‘Lessons in Leading Today’

Logo of the NIU Alumni Association Executive Leadership ForumThe NIU Executive Leadership Forum, which engages a broad cross section of alumni in developing mutually beneficial relationships, will host a conference in February on “Lessons in Leading Today.”

Scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, the conference will feature a keynote address from Dennis Chookaszian, retired chairman and CEO of CNA Insurance Companies.

A panel discussion is planned at 3 p.m. to explore “Best Practices in Leadership.” Panel members include Rita Athas, retired president of World Business Chicago (retired), and Jerry Roper, retired president and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce president. Tom Mazur, board member of the NIU Executive Leadership Forum, will moderate.

Jeff Yordon, chairman and CEO of Sagent Pharmaceuticals, will give closing remarks on “Achieving the Penultimate Competitive Positioning: Rare, Exception, Valuable” at 4 p.m.

NIU President Doug Baker is the special guest at the 5 p.m. cocktail reception.

The conference takes place on the Mid-America Club on the 80th floor of the Aon Building, 200 E. Randolph Drive in Chicago. The cost is $50 for nonmembers and free for Executive Leadership Forum members (use the promotion code sent via email). Registration is available online.
